If you really want to taste the atmosphere of Zierikzee, it is best to visit during the Havendagen or Zierikzee Days. The Havendagen is a three-day event in August. In and around the harbor you will find one and all music, food and drinks. Each square has its own program with artists, activities and good food. The Zierikzee Days take place during the summer months. A larger fair is held in the downtown area on Tuesdays for six weeks. Each week highlights a different theme.

Surroundings of Zierikzee

If you're staying at Residence Zierikzee, it's best to explore the surrounding area by bike. For a great cycling route, please refer to the bicycle junction route. For a beautiful view over Lake Grevelingen, it's best to continue along the Grevenlingenmeer towards Zonnemaire/de Brouwersdam. If the weather is nice, we recommend bringing your beach gear and taking a dip at Bommenede beach.

Local tip: plan a visit to Wijnhoeve de kleine Schorre in Dreischor. A real homegrown wine from Zeeland. Complete your visit with a lunch of local produce and don't forget to taste the Bouillabaisse!

Zeeland's beaches

Zierikzee is also close to beautiful beaches! Schouwen-Duiveland has a coastline of up to 650 km with beautiful beaches. Not only beautiful, but the beaches are also among the cleanest in the Netherlands. And the coast of Schouwen-Duiveland doesn't have the lovely nickname "The sunny side of Zeeland" for nothing.
