For some accommodations we make an exception for certain types of dogs. Think about hypoallergenic dogs. These dogs are on request and applies to the accommodations in Colijnsplaat.
Dogs on the beaches of Zeeland
Zeeland is ideal if you are planning to take your dog with you on holidays. Long walks on the beach or in the beautiful nature are relaxing for both you and your dog! Enjoy the beautiful beaches, lakes and forests that the islands have to offer.
Find an overview of the off-leash areas and times when you can let your dog run free. Note: this information may change over time so always check again yourself the off-leash areas.
Dog information Strand Westerschouwen Burgh-Haamstede
On the western tip of Schouwen-Duiveland, on the beach of Burgh-Haamstede, the dog may run loose at certain times.
Running loose: From 18:00 to 10:00
On a lead: Between Pentecost and 1 September dogs must be on a lead from 10:00 to 18:00.
Please note: due to the presence of rare birds, there is an exception at Verklikkerstrand. There, from 1 April to 15 September, a leash is required for the entire day and night. In the summer months, your dog is also welcome on the beach, but on a leash. You can park on the Strandweg at one of the beach entrances. From the car park just past house number 49, you can walk along the Vuurtorenpad to the beach in a few minutes. Dogs must be kept on a leash in the dunes.
Dog information Schelphoek Serooskerke
Alongside the Oosterschelde estuary you can take a lovely walk across the old sea dyke from the caisson at the Schelphoek (near Serooskerke on Schouwen-Duiveland). Your dog can run free because the dike is fenced off with sheep wire. You can also cross the dike at the caisson and walk along the creek where there is also a stray area. Take the Schelphoek exit from the N59 between Zierikzee and Burgh-Haamstede. In the eastern part of the Schelphoekbos near Serooskerke (Schouwen-Duiveland) dogs may also run free.
Dog information Grevelingen
Leash area along the Grevelingen (Europe's largest saltwater lake). The Grevelingenstrand recreation area on the Grevelingendam has a dog-walking area at the very end of the area.
Running free: From October to April, the whole area is used as a dog walking area.
On the leash: Between Easter and the autumn holidays, the restriction applies to that section.

Dog information The Preekhilpolder
This is a beautiful nature reserve for a lovely walk with your dog along the Grevelingenmeer.
Running loose: Dogs are allowed to run free here from 1 July to 29 February.
On a lead: Between 1 March and 1 July, they must be kept on a lead because the water birds are breeding. The dogs can walk down from the dike to swim in the Grevelingen.
Parking is possible at the gate of the path that runs along the building of the architect Zeelenberg. Navigation address: Ouddorpse Haven 3, 3253 LM Ouddorp
Dog information Brouwersdam-Zuid
Running free: on the south side of Brouwersdam, on the side of the North Sea, is a curved stretch of beach where dogs are allowed to run and swim freely between 15 October and 15 May.
On a leash: after 15 May, dogs must be kept on a leash between 10:00 and 19:00, but after that time, they are allowed to run free again.
You can park (free of charge) at the car park on the west side of the beginning of the Brouwersdam (Grevelingenlaan). From here, you can walk straight to the beach. At Beach Club Perry's, dogs are welcome, on a leash.
Dog information Boswachterij Westerschouwen
In Boswachterij Westerschouwen dogs are allowed to run free on the strip behind the camping grounds between the forest edge and the bridle path at the Adriaan van der Weijdeweg in Westenschouwen.
